Barrier-Free Library
General Information
The library team will be happy to assist anyone with disabilities in finding media and with any copying or scanning work that may be required.
Information for wheelchair users
University Library locations vary in accessibility for wheelchair users. Use this table to learn about the conditions and wheelchair accessibility of each library building at our locations.
Accessibility by wheelchair of the buildings at our locations | ||
Neues Palais | Golm | Babelsberg/Griebnitzsee |
Building 18/IKMZ | Building 5 |
The following applies to all our libraries: Due to the narrow shelf spacing and the hight of the shelves, it is usually not possible for wheelchair users to take books from the shelves themselves. Contacting the respective departmental library in advance about the planned visit allows the library team to provide the needed media at the circulation desk without waiting times.
You will find wheelchair-accessible workstations in the Departmental Library Golm as well as in the Departmental Library Neues Palais. In the Departmental Library Babelsberg/Griebnitzsee, current legal commentariesare available to wheelchair users on accessible shelves in the east wing.
Information for the visually impaired
Software equipment for students with visual impairments is available at the Neues Palais departmental library (House 10).
The ZIM (Center for Information Technology and Media Management) also offers workstations and technical supportfor students with health impairments at all three campus locations.
If you have questions about the accessibility of our libraries and user services and/or if you need assistance, please contact us.
